Two-Factor Authentication
In some cases, lawmakers insist on increasing the security level of solutions in certain areas by implementing the so-called Two Factor Authentication. Depending on the need for higher or lower security in the respective case, the customer can adjust the security settings accordingly.
Two Factor Authentication is based on something you know (e.g. password/PIN), something you have (e.g. your cell phone) and on something you are, i.e. your voice. The combination of 2 of these factors results in a positive authentication. By combining knowledge, possession, and identity, fraud becomes virtually impossible. What is more, there is no imperative need for additional hardware (like a token). Nothing changes for the user: He only has to remember the user ID and PIN number. Existing phones (ISDN, analogue, GSM) will be used in order to verify the user’s voice.
- First off, the VOICETRUST server verifies the password/PIN and initiates a phone call to the user for voice authentication (second factor).
- Only the combination of the right password/PIN and the right voice leads to a successful authentication.
VOICETRUST offers a highly secure solution which is at the same time the most cost-effective Two Factor Authentication on the market. We have a series of solutions for Two Factor Authentication available that scale massively and will be happy to provide you with further information. In October 2009, we have received the certification of our VOICETRUST servers for RSA SecurID®.
